Shampoo Bar – Oat ‘n Honey Spice (Normal Hair)

While we love soap for the body, we much prefer the lower pH of shampoo for our hair.  When we first found out it was possible to make shampoo in bar form, we were hooked!  They are concentrated, portable, and plastic free (they come wrapped in a glassine bag), plus…no more bottles cluttering the shower!

Over the years we’ve brought you a variety of shampoo bar formulations.  These Oat ‘n Honey Spice solid Shampoo Bars, formulated for normal hair, are scented with a customer favorite – a delicious blend of fragrant toasted oats, honey, and warm cinnamon spice.  It provides a thorough cleanse as well as light hydration/moisturizing.  We still recommend following with a light conditioner.  While they are not as firm as our most recent style which was higher in Cetyl Alcohol, they are similar to what we used to make; we’ve found they are better suited for more hair types.  This cleansing blend is also made with SLSa instead of SCS, a gentle surfactant we used to work with regularly.  If you are used to our SCS blends, you may find that your hair may go through a short adjustment period when switching to this bar.

How To Use:  Wet hair thoroughly.  Lightly wet shampoo bar and rub directly on hair being careful not to use too much (shampoo bars are concentrated).  Set bar gently on soap saver to dry between uses (allowing it to ultimately last longer) and lather/wash hair as usual, working shampoo down to the roots.  Rinse thoroughly.  If your hair is in need of more detangling/conditioning, we recommend following with a solid conditioner bar.

NOTE: Should your shampoo bar fall apart as it gets smaller, it can be squished back together or placed in a netted soap bag and used until gone.

Q. How long will my shampoo bar last?

A. It’s really hard to say.  Our shampoo bars are larger than most (about 3 oz. verses the standard 2 oz.).  You should find it comparable to your standard bottle of shampoo, hopefully even more!  Everyone’s usage varies depending on hair thin/thickness and length.  Used and stored properly, your shampoo bar will last for quite some time!

Q. I started using your shampoo bar and loved it right away!  My friend tried one though, and she isn’t sure it’s the right fit for her hair.

A. We’ve learned that when switching hair care products, it may take a couple of weeks for your hair to adjust.  If after 2-3 weeks your friend is not happy with the shampoo bar, she may be using too much or may even need a different formulation.
