Happy Soaper FAQs

What is cold process soap?
Cold process soap is made by mixing oils/fats with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) (an alkali) and liquid (water, aloe vera juice, various milks, tea, etc.).
How is cold process soap different than the bars at the grocery store?

According to the FDA, “Today there are very few true soaps on the market. Most body cleansers, both liquid and solid, are actually synthetic detergent products” (https://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ProductsIngredients/Products/ucm115449.htm).  You will not find synthetic detergents in these bars!  The cleansing, bubbly lather provided by cold process soap, is all-natural.

Why does cold process soap cost more?

Cold process soap is full of valuable skin loving oils and fats (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, etc.), not synthetic cleansing detergents.  It also is not stripped of the natural glycerin that forms as a result of the soap making process, and then sold for use in other products.  You get to keep the glycerin in your bar!  Glycerin is known as a humectant, which helps your skin attract and keep moisture in, a lovely benefit you get from using a real bar of soap!

How long will my bar of soap last?

Bars will last quite awhile if properly drained between uses.  To get the longest usage from your lovely bars, use a soap saver which allows your soap to dry thoroughly, not dissolve away, between uses.

Can I use these if I have allergies to...?

Each bar includes a list of ingredients for your benefit.  The Happy Soaper makes a wide variety of soap, so you should be able to find the right fit for you.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes!  There is a minimum 5 bar order for custom made soap.  Please keep in mind that cold process soap takes 4-6 weeks to cure, allowing it to become a more mild, longer lasting bar (most of its water content evaporates during this time).  Please plan to place your special order at least 6-8 weeks in advance.  A 50% deposit is required.
