Shampoo Bar – Juniper Aloe Breeze (Normal Hair)

NEW Solid Shampoo Bars are available, this time in “noodlized” form (thanks to our soaping friend Jennifer for the fun term)!  While we love soap for the body, we much prefer the lower pH of shampoo for our hair.  When we first found out it was possible to make shampoo in bar form, we were hooked!  They are concentrated, portable and plastic free (they come wrapped in unbleached paper), plus…no more upside down bottles cluttering the shower!

This shampoo is specially formulated for Normal Hair types.  It provides a thorough but gentle cleanse as well as very light conditioning, moisture and hydration.  Mango Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Honeyquat, Rice Protein, Silk Amino Acids and Pro-Vitamin B5 are some of our specialty ingredients in this blend.

How To Use:  Wet hair thoroughly.  Lightly wet shampoo bar if desired and rub directly on hair.  You do not need to wait to see lather, as that will likely end up being more shampoo than you need!  A little goes a long way (we recommend starting with just one light streak down the head/hair); this is a concentrated shampoo.  Set bar gently on soap saver to dry between uses (allowing it to ultimately last longer) and lather/wash hair as usual.  Rinse thoroughly.  If your hair is in need of more moisture or detangling/conditioning, we recommend still following with your usual conditioning routine.

NOTE: Pressed shampoo bars are slightly soft in texture.  Should your shampoo bar fall apart as it gets smaller, it can be squished back together or placed in a netted soap bag and used until gone.

Q. How long will my shampoo bar last?

A. It’s really hard to say.  Our shampoo bars are larger than most (about 3 oz. verses the standard 2 oz.).  You should find it comparable to your standard bottle of shampoo, hopefully even more!  Everyone’s usage varies depending on hair thin/thickness and length.  We only lather up and wash once, but some users wash twice, which also makes a difference in bar life.  Used and stored properly, your shampoo bar will last for quite sometime!

Q. How often should I shampoo?

A. We have found it most often recommended to wash every other day for most hair types.  Since starting on our shampoo bar making journey, The Happy Soaper has even transitioned to every other day with her fine, oily hair (with the aide of our natural homemade Dry Shampoo on the off days).

Q. I started using your shampoo bar and loved it right away!  My friend tried one though, and she isn’t sure it’s the right fit for her hair.

A. We’ve learned that when switching hair care products, it may take a couple of weeks for your hair to adjust.  If after 2-3 weeks your friend is not happy with the shampoo bar, she may be using too much or may even need a different formulation.  We currently make two versions, one for Normal hair and one for Fine/Oily hair.  If neither of these is a good fit, we’d be happy to try to make a special formulation for her (we have developed a third formulation for a customer with specific ingredient allergies and her bar is working amazingly well for her!).

Curious about the Journey?

At the start of 2019 we first learned about solid shampoo bars and the quest began.  Our first recipes were provided by suppliers and purchased from fellow makers, but we found most were too harsh and/or heavy for us.  We continued studying, making and testing until finally, we formulated a shampoo we’re excited to share.  A lot has gone into these shampoo bars we make today and yes, new versions will likely keep rolling out because if we’ve learned one thing…hair care products are definitely not “one size fits all”.
